DAY: 1 (11-09-2023) PLAY: "SAGOROR BUKUT EJAAK JONAKOR MRITYU"
Art from Nagaon presented “SAGOROR BUKUT EJAAK JONAKOR MRITYU”, written by eminent theatre personality and filmmaker Mr Arup Borthakur. The play, directed by Mr Suraj Kumar Saikia, mainly talks about the perennial flood havoc and its impact on common people.
DAY: 2 (12-09-2023) PLAY: “EKALABYA”
Jagiroad Natyagosthi performed “EKALABYA”. The play, written and directed by well-known theatre personality Mr Tarun Talukdar, revolves around a rape victim. It showcases the struggle of the girl to get justice against the accused, who is linked to a powerful politician of the area.
DAY: 3 (13-09-2023) PLAY: “JIBAN ZINDABAD”
Playwright and director Mr Rupkumar Bora’s “JIBAN ZINDABAD” had been presented by famous Jorhat Theatre. This family drama deals with a paralysed father and his family’s treatment to him.
DAY: 4 (14-09-2023) PLAY: “BODHODAY”
Written and directed by Mr Ratan Dasgupta, Agartala-based Somankur staged their latest play “BODHODAY”. It is based on a tale of a teenage Muslim girl, who takes a room on rent in a house of a Hindu family. The story revolves around the clash between the two sides, especially the tenant and the wife of the house owner.
DAY: 5 (15-09-2023) PLAY: “DROHI”
Samahar Natya Gosthee staged the maiden show of their latest play “DROHI”, written and directed by renowned playwright and theatre personality Dr Sitanath Lahkar. The drama is based on COVID-19 pandemic period. The play exposes how a section of the society tries to capitalize on the human catastrophe by means of superstitions.
